Urban Hydrology, Storm Drainage Design & Management
This course introduces the principles of urban stormwater management and hydrologic design, emphasizing the impacts of urbanization on the hydrologic cycle and the design of efficient drainage systems. It covers design storm and flood estimation, synthetic unit hydrographs, and the hydraulic design of channels, pavements, culverts, storm sewers, and storage basins. The course also highlights Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Low Impact Development (LID) techniques, such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, and green roofs, to promote sustainable runoff management, groundwater recharge, and improved water quality.
